I’ve been thinking lately about the saying “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” I wondered if this saying has had any influence on me, in the kitchen. One of my favorite things to do is make food that satisfies, calms, soothes, and comforts my guests. But then, who doesn’t like feel that way? Why should it only be men who get to be won through food?
I will admit that I am always impressed with anyone who cooks a good meal, regardless of gender. I’ve not yet had a conversation with a female sushi chef, wherein she learns what I like and is able to concoct a wonderful omakase meal for me (in fact, I have not seen a female sushi chef, ever! Do they exist?), but I would really like to.
My point is that good cooks, regardless of sex, are always going to be valued, by both men and women. Food transcends isms, in my personal opinion.
