Art of food is usually pretty boring. Seriously, how many paintings of a bowl of fruit can the world possibly produce? Infinite amounts, apparently.
I know there’s historic, socioeconomic reason as to why people used fruit as a subject a long time ago, but these days fruit is not as big a deal as it was. Food, in general, isn’t that impressive as an artistic subject. We’ve got cameras to capture mouth watering images of food now, and paintings just don’t cut it the same way.
Most of the time, yes. But here’s an instance where the answer is “no.” Check out Mary Ellen Johnson’s webpage for more lovely paintings of food.
